Lakes based mostly mountain biking type, with the odd foray into gravel, 'cross and even road. Fuelled by coffee and porridge. Driver of Van. Known to race at times. Happy place being out the door and in the hills - local or further afield, all is good with two wheels in the dirt.

Product reviews

An update on the classic mushroom style, the Fabric Magic Grip is comfy and offers good bar feel and a solid locking mechanism – but it wears very quickly.

At 135mm wide the Magic Grip has plenty of room for big hands, and the 32mm diameter gives a comfy shape that swells to support the curve of your palm.

The mushroom pattern is grippy, and it’s flexible enough for comfort over long rides. It’s well made too, with a clean, low-profile single clamp that's entirely secure. The 50to01 logo on it looks neat, and the grip rises to meet the clamp – it doesn't dig in if your hand isn’t placed perfectly.

Fabric 50to01 Magic Lockon Grip 2020 review

Bar feel is good and communicative, yet the Magic Grip isn't so thin it’s jarring or hurts your hands over time. At least, not at first – those ribs wear away very fast. With less than 40 off-road miles on them, the 30a rubber at the thinnest point was visibly worn, and vibration damping obvious goes along with the ribs.

The choice of four colours (black, green, red and blue) and the reasonable pricing is attractive, as is the comfort. They're secure, too, but be prepared for the performance to quickly degrade – they don't last long at all.
