Another bargain busting jersey from Wiggle brand dhb. The MTB Women’s Short Sleeved Trail Jersey is much liked it's longer sleeved sibling, its well-fitting and versatile at a pocket-friendly price.

This short sleeved trail jersey is designed for all year round use and any trail conditions. Constructed from 100% polyester it’s not the softest material to touch and it’s not that stretchy but dhb have done a good job of designing the cut so those factors aren’t so obvious when wearing it.

The lightweight fabric is breathable but I found it to be a little slow to dry on chillier days, cooling the skin more than I’d like. There are mesh underarm panels to keep the air circulating on hot rides and dhb say there is a ‘Hi-Q’ anti-odour treatment keeps you fresher for longer, I certainly didn’t smell any worse than I usually do! Elsewhere there are reflective logos front and rear but they are pretty small so don’t count on them upping your safety levels too much.

Mesh under the arms for a cool breeze

The fit is slim but relaxed, meaning there is plenty of space for a base layer underneath in winter and it won’t cling to the skin on sweatier rides when worn on its own. It’s plenty long enough a the rear, and at the front for that matter, staying in place well when riding. The sleeves are longer than the average short sleeved jersey but I really liked that, it offers more protection and means they don’t ride up under the arm or rub at all.

Relaxed fit is long at the rear too

There are a couple of improvements to be made however to this versatile jersey. There are no raglan sleeves so there are seams that run over the shoulders. This didn’t cause any chafing for me, but I usually only ride for 3-4 hours at a time rather than day long missions. dhb say this jersey is designed for anything from trail riding to bikepacking, the latter is where a bit of rubbing could cause misery!

Our jersey sporting a couple of pulled threads

The fabric also is a little prone to pulling (this also happened on the long sleeve jersey), I’ve caught mine on a bramble or two and some threads have come loose. As a result, I make sure I never wash it with any Velcro. Lastly, and this may seem a tad picky but the colour of the sleeves doesn’t match the colour of the base of the jersey, it’s close but it’s not the same and would look better if it matched.

Those blue's don't quite match though.....

At just £30, this jersey is a bargain, it’s £15-£20 cheaper than most other brands and although there are no additional extras there is plenty to like. The styling is good (colours matching aside), the fit will suit most riders and it’s a multi-purpose jersey that can be used for any manner of biking activities.
