Despite only being in its third year, Mid-Wales gravel race Gritfest has sold out in record time, even though provisions were put in place to expand the event and create extra places for the 2020 edition. If you've missed out but are still keen to give it a go, then a reserve list has already been opened.
It's a proud moment for organiser Matt Page of Acycling, who said: "We are absolutely blown away by the response from riders looking to head to the beautiful Towy Valley next June to take part. Such has been the interest that we have secured extra space from the landowners, giving extra space for camping and on-site activities, all of which is of course included with the entry.
"We have already been hard at work on the 2020 course, looking to add in new sections while also bring back a few riders favourites from the previous two years."
Gritfest consists of multiple enduro-style timed gravel segments as part of a larger loop over the two days of racing. Once again, there will be around 80km of riding with a chunky 1900m of climbing on the first day, before a marginally more mellow 50km and 1200m for tired legs on day two. The Cambrian mountains provide the rugged backdrop and stunning scenery as well as some top-notch riding.
We've been involved as media sponsor since the inaugural event, so it's great to see the rise and rise of the event, which has been blessed with impressively good weather since it kicked off in 2017 - fingers crossed for blue skies in 2020...
