Grinduro Scotland to give away custom frame
Riders who enter Grinduro Scotland by July 1 will be in with a chance of winning a custom frame which will be crafted on site during the weekend of the event (July 14-16).
A combination of gravel road race and mountain bike-style enduro, Grinduro Scotland will involve one long loop of pavement, gravel, and dirt on the Isle of Arran. Finishing times are based on four timed segments, each of which will take roughly five to seven minutes.
The event is also a celebration of cycling with excellent food, live music, an art and bike gallery, camping, and a festival atmosphere.
One lucky entrant will also win a custom frame built by Andrew Denham of The Bicycle Academy.
During check in, before awards, and while you’re kicking back with food and beer, Denham will be working on the frame, turning a selection of high-quality Columbus steel tubes into a finished, ready-to-paint frame complete with Columbus Future Gravel carbon fork.
Other Bicycle Academy events taking place over the weekend will include a free 20-minute brazing clinic, in which riders will get the chance to wield a torch and learn the fundamentals of brazing steel. Everyone who has a go will get a handcrafted Grinduro key ring and bottle opener.
During the competition phase, Denham will also conduct a youth tutorial on brazing for local kids at Arran High School.
Entry for Grinduro Scotland is capped at 400 riders. Registration is now open at www.grinduro.com
