Will an 11 Speed Chainring fit the Shimano 12 Chain?

Bringe

Looking to upgrade to Shimano 1x12 speed drivetrain groupset. I want to keep my 30t chainring from my current 1x11 up front.
I can get the microspline conversion kit for my hub so I know that will work.
Just need to know if the chainring is compatible with the 12 speed chain?
Any guidance will be appreciated.
Thanks

Hey! I'm afraid Shimano says an 11-speed chainring won't work with the new 12-speed chain - I'm 99% sure this is because they're slightly different internal widths. You can check Shimano's giant compatibility chart here for stuff like this.

I suspect that in the real world you *might* be able to get away with it, but a much better option might just be to buy an aftermarket 12-speed chainring that'll fit your cranks - there are some good options around now - I'm pretty sure Absolute Black does a fairly expansive range. Hope this helps!
