We've got a range of new kit in this week from Guy Martin's Proper Cleaner, giving us no excuse not to get out bikes looks box fresh to the long awaited Shimano Saint clipless pedals. We promise next week we won't wait for a glimpse of sun before we hit the trails.....
NS Bikes RAG+
This week we've got our grubby mitts on the new and updated NS Bikes RAG+ skinny wheeler, with a full First Look here. RAG+ is short for road and gravel and the plus is an indicator of its ability to take both 700c road wheels and 650b mountain bike wheels. NS Bikes says it's all about offering versatility and maximum tyre choice for any style of rider and riding.
Ryde Edge 30 Wheelset
The guys over at Chicken Cycles say these are some of the lightest and strongest aluminium wheels you'll find. At a claimed 1880g they aren't super light but maybe they make up for that in strength. They have an internal rim width of 30mm, an asymmetrical spoke design and directionally drilled spoke holes to avoid bends between the spoke and the nipple. They have Bitex hubs that feature 'Anti-Bite Technology'. this is small steel inserts on the alloy freehub body, used to prevent the cassette notching into the metal - neat.
Brooks Cambium C15 Carved and C15 All Weather
Brooks isn't perhaps your first thought when thinking about your next saddle for your mountain bike but maybe it should be. Talking to the guys at Brooks they recommended we tired these two saddles and put them to a range of uses to see what we thought. The Cambium range use vulcanised natural rubber and organic cotton top rather than leather, making them much more applicable for the bikes that we'll be putting them on. They're considerably different to the usual Brooks saddles but still have that classic look and feel.
Guy Martin Proper Cleaner
We told you all about Guy Martin's new 'Proper Cleaner' here and it's not just another cleaning product either. The bike cleaner is sold without water, saving space, cutting down on shipping costs and being that little bit 'greener' in the process. You can buy the dissolvable tabs by themselves for a fiver and each tab gives you 750ml of cleaning product once mixed with water - nifty.
Shimano Saint M820 Clipless Pedals
Shimano join the gang of gravity orientated large platform clipless pedals with the Saint M820's. They offer a fixed mechanism design with four pins in the surrounding platform, they are pretty slender and weigh a claimed 546g.
USWE Hydration Packs
The Zulu hip belt and Lizard 16 pack are extremely fresh products, with the press release going out earlier this week. The Zulu looks to be a sturdy minimalist pack for the bare essentials (plus 1L water bladder) whilst the Lizard 16 is a pretty roomy affair featuring the brands 'x type' harness.
